Common questions
Notes or Ask say they’re unavailable
On-device notes and Ask use Apple Intelligence, which needs an iPhone 15 Pro or later (or an iPad with M1 or A17 Pro or later) with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri, in a supported language. On other devices the transcript and speaker labels still work. Ditto Pro writes notes in the cloud on any iPhone.
Speakers are labeled wrong
Open the recording’s transcript. Long-press a paragraph to move it to another speaker, merge two speakers into one, or use ⋯ → Re-detect Speakers and tell Ditto how many people were in the room. Settings → Speakers → High accuracy is slower but separates voices better.
How do I name a speaker so Ditto remembers them?
Open the recording, tap the speaker names under the title (or ⋯ → Name Speakers) and type theirs. Ditto saves a voice profile on your device and names them in later meetings. Remove a profile in Settings → Voices → Forget This Voice.
Which files can I import?
Most audio and video from an iPhone, a recorder or a call app: M4A, MP3, WAV, AIFF, CAF, AAC, FLAC, ALAC, Opus, AC-3, MP4, MOV, M4V and 3GP. iOS can’t decode MKV, WebM, AVI, WMA, AMR or Ogg Vorbis; convert those to M4A or MP3 first. Import from the ⋯ menu, with “Open in Ditto” in Files, or from the share sheet.
Does recording continue when the screen is locked?
Yes. A recording keeps going when you lock the phone or switch apps, and shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. You can also start one from Control Center, the Action Button, Siri or Shortcuts.
The high-accuracy engine is downloading a lot
The higher-accuracy model in Settings → Transcription is a one-time download of 0.6 to 1.1 GB, depending on your iPhone. The default Apple engine needs no download beyond Apple’s language pack. Remove downloaded models in Settings → Storage.
How do I send notes to Obsidian?
Settings → Obsidian & Markdown, then pick a folder, such as your vault (in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone). Each finished meeting is written there as a Markdown note. Ditto never overwrites a file it didn’t write.
How do I delete my data?
Delete a recording to remove its audio and transcript. Deleting the app removes everything Ditto stored. Ditto has no account and keeps no copy on a server; see the privacy policy.

How do I cancel or change my subscription?
In the Settings app, tap your name → Subscriptions → Ditto. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
I paid but Pro isn’t active
In Ditto, open Settings → See plans → Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple ID you bought with. If that doesn’t work, email us.
What’s free, and what does Pro add?
Recording, imports, playback, exports and the transcripts you already have are always free. Your first 2 hours of transcription are free with every feature; Settings shows how much is left. After that, Ditto Pro transcribes without a limit and adds notes and Ask on any iPhone. If you downloaded Ditto before version 2.1, everything on your iPhone stays unlocked for you.
How do cloud minutes work?
Pro + Cloud includes 1,000 cloud minutes a month (about 16 hours), counted by the length of the audio and reset on the first of each month (UTC). On-device transcription never uses minutes.
Can I get a refund?
Apple handles all payments and refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
